Baby tracker guide
How to move your baby tracker history into Gaia
Reviewed
Gaia imports Nara Baby exports directly, recognises Huckleberry CSV files automatically, and can map ordinary CSV exports from other baby trackers. The file is read on the phone, and Gaia shows its interpretation before writing an entry.
Your old log is part of the decision
Months of feeds, sleep, diapers and growth should not trap a family in an app it no longer wants. Before switching, export the existing record as CSV and keep the original file somewhere safe.
Gaia has a dedicated Nara reader and a dedicated Huckleberry reader. For other CSV files, it inspects the headings and sample values, proposes a mapping and asks you to correct anything ambiguous.
What happens before Gaia saves anything
- Create the baby profile the history belongs to.
- Choose the exported CSV on the Import screen.
- Review the source, date range, entry counts and any skipped rows.
- For an unfamiliar format, confirm what each column means.
- Approve the import. Running the same file again does not duplicate entries that already landed.
Recognised formats and honest limits
Nara Baby: Gaia reads feeds, diapers, sleep, pumping, growth and milestones from Nara’s CSV format. Follow the step-by-step Nara import guide.
Huckleberry: Gaia recognises the exported Type, Start, End, Duration and condition columns automatically, then shows the results before saving them.
Another tracker: Gaia can map common date, type, amount, duration and notes columns. Formats vary, so the preview identifies anything it cannot safely interpret rather than guessing.
Private by construction
The selected file is parsed on the phone. It is not uploaded to a conversion service. Only entries you approve are written into your own Gaia family log.
After the import, invite the other caregivers from Account → Family. They see the imported history and everything logged afterwards through their own Gaia accounts.
Questions parents ask
Can Gaia import data from Huckleberry?
Yes. Gaia recognises Huckleberry CSV columns automatically and shows the resulting entry counts before saving them. Export formats can change, so review the preview and skipped-row report.
Can Gaia import data from any baby tracker?
Gaia can inspect ordinary CSV files and map common date, entry type, amount, duration and notes columns. A format with no CSV export, or fields Gaia cannot identify safely, may require manual correction or may not transfer.
Will importing the same file twice duplicate my history?
No. Imported entries retain an external identifier where the source provides one, and Gaia skips entries that already landed. Keep the original export as your own backup.
Does Gaia upload my CSV to convert it?
No. Gaia reads and previews the selected file on the phone. Approved entries are then written to your own family log.
